SUNDAY SCHOOL @ RUTHFRED

SUNDAY SCHOOL is an important part of the education program.  The first Sunday School was started in England in 1780 by Robert Raikes.  Raikes was convinced that young children, many of whom worked in factories Monday through Saturday, could be deterred from a life of crime if they were taught to read the Bible and learned the fundamentals of Christianity.

The Bible was their textbook and continues to be the basic text for our Sunday School at Ruthfred.  We have classes for ages 2 through adult every Sunday morning.  We also have a fully equipped nursery for babies and toddlers.  Here is a short summary of our program:

Ages 2 through Kindergarten
These children love Jesus.  They learn Bible stories, sing songs, and make Bible-based crafts.

Grades 1-5
This group opens Sunday School together with prayer, songs, the Ten Commandments, and the Apostle’s Creed.  Lessons focus on the Gospel - that Christ is the only way of salvation - and nurtures children in their faith.

The corresponding youth program for this group is the Kids Club (grades K-6).

Grades 6,7,8

Each grade meets separately, except during the summer.  Grade 6 prepares the students for their upcoming Confirmation studies.  The Sunday School program supports the confirmation studies of the 7th and 8th grades.  SWAP (Students With A Purpose) is the youth program for 7th and 8th grades.

Grades 9-12

These highly motivated students continue to grow closer to God through Bible study and topical studies.  Sunday School for this group ties in with the TNT youth group.

Adults

Adults love Sunday School too! We offer numerous classes for adults and parents ranging from raising teens to in-depth Bible studies and topical studies. These classes are taught by the pastors and lay teachers. Check our church bulletin to see what classes are going on now.

We'd like to invite you to join us every Sunday morning at 9:45am!
