Journey Through The Word
Lesson Seven: ……
Group Discussion
In this lesson we will talk about four of the problems Darwinists must face. Those four problems are:
1. 1. How did it all begin, and I mean at the very beginning?
2. 2. The physics problem. How does Darwinism reconcile with the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics?
3. 3. Do we really have evidence of Darwinian evolution? Examining Darwin’s famed Galapagos Island finches.
4. 4. How complete is the fossil record.
How did it all begin
How would those who believe in an intelligent design say the world began? See Genesis 1
What is the nature of God, how could He have created something from nothing?
On what basis do you believe that an eternal God created the intricate complex world?
For those who believe there is no God, what theory would explain the origin of that first complex cell?
What would it take for someone to believe the Darwinist theory of our origins? See Romans 1:25.
The Physics Problem
The Second Law of Thermodynamics is commonly known as the Law of Increased
Entropy. The quality of matter/energy deteriorates gradually over time. How so?
Usable energy is inevitably used for productivity, growth and repair. In the
process, usable energy is converted into unusable energy. Thus, usable energy is
irretrievably lost in the form of unusable energy.
Second Law of Thermodynamics
- In the Beginning...
The implications of the
Second Law of Thermodynamics are considerable. The universe is constantly losing
usable energy and never gaining. We logically conclude the universe is not
eternal - Darwinists and creationists both agree that there was a beginning. The
universe had a finite beginning -- the moment at which it was at "zero entropy"
(its most ordered possible state).
Like a wind-up clock, the universe is winding
down, as if at one point it was fully wound up and has been winding down ever
since. The question is who wound up the clock?
The theological implications are obvious. NASA Astronomer Robert Jastrow
commented on these implications when he said, "Theologians generally are
delighted with the proof that the universe had a beginning, but astronomers are
curiously upset. It turns out that the scientist behaves the way the rest of us
do when our beliefs are in conflict with the evidence." (Robert Jastrow, God
and the Astronomers, 1978, p. 16.)
Jastrow went on to say, "For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the
power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of
ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the
final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there
for centuries." (God and the Astronomers, p. 116.) It seems the Cosmic
Egg that was the birth of our universe logically requires a Cosmic Chicken...
O.K., enough of the scientific jargon, here is a summary of why this matters: This Law directly contradicts the Darwinists theory that life is evolving from lower life forms to higher life forms. This 2nd law basically tells us that our world is deteriorating rather than evolving to better and more perfect life forms as Darwinism teaches.
By the way, the Bible agrees with the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. See Romans 8:18-25. According to Paul what has happened to Creation since sin entered the world in the Garden of Eden?
The next two subject questions should be discussed after attending the lecture.
Do we really have evidence of Darwinian Evolution?
One of the most important evidences of Darwinism is the Galapagos finches. Scientists have found that the finch beak adapts (becomes larger, or becomes smaller) to climates changes enabling the finch to survive.
Do you believe that the Galapagos finch are a convincing proof of Darwinian evolution? If so, why, if not, what would be convincing proof?
How Complete is the fossil record?
If the fossil record does not show transitional change from one species to another, what evidence is there of Darwinian evolution? If there is no evidence what has Darwinian evolution become?
